BP head honcho officially ousted over gulf disaster
Thanks to the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster, BP has reported an all-time record loss of 17-billion dollars in the second quarter of 2010. Due to public and political anger over the spill, CEO Tony Hayward has been forced out as head honcho. Current executive in charge of clean-up efforts, Bob Dudley, will take the reins as the firm’s first non-British leader in October.
US forces unable to account for billions of dollars in Iraq relief funding
The US military has been harshly criticized for failing to account for billions of dollars it received to rebuild Iraq. The US Department of Defense has been allotted more than 9 billion dollars for the effort, but some 7 to 8 billion remains completely unaccounted for. So far, the US military only said that the spending records MIGHT have been archived.
Running out of cyberspace – number of available IP addresses dwindles
Turns out the internet DOES have limits. The number of unique internet protocol addresses – or IP addresses – is almost at its maximum! Only about a quarter of a million addresses remain! Thankfully experts predicted the shortage over a DECADE ago, so a whole new system of IP addresses is in the process of being implemented.
