Barefoot Bandit pleads not guilty
Colton Harris-Moore – the man accused of being the notorious “Barefoot Bandit” – has pleaded not guilty to a myriad of charges, including aircraft theft. The 19-year-old allegedly led law-enforcement on a 2-year manhunt before being apprehended in the Bahamas earlier this year. He became an internet celebrity, and his lawyer says he could leverage that fame into book and movie deals to help repay his alleged victims.
Tweet lands Chinese woman in labor camp
A Chinese woman has been sentenced to a YEAR of hard labor over a TWITTER post! Cheng Jianping got the sentence for “disrupting social order” after re-tweeting an apparently farcical message from her fiancĂ©, urging protesters to smash Japan’s pavilion at Shanghai’s world expo. Technically, Twitter is banned in China, but many people find ways to use it.
Bird flu is back in Hong Kong
It’s baaaaack! Health officials in Hong Kong have confirmed the first case of human bird flu in seven years! A 59-year old woman is in serious condition after contracting the virus during a trip to the Chinese mainland. Let’s hope it’s a singular case. When the virus broke out in Hong Kong back in 1997, officials culled over 1-point-5 million chickens!

Katy Perry’s boobs have almost caused the singer more strife, and I’m not talking about back pain. Katy’s assets had to be digitally downsized on the poster for the upcoming “Divas Salute the Troops” TV special. Her team feared her massive knockers were inappropriate PR tools for the event.
Will Ferrell ordered to pay big bucks to JP Morgan Chase
Will Ferrell has lost his lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase, and has been ordered to cover the bank’s 600-thousand dollars worth of legal fees! Ferrell filed suit against the firm in 2008 for claiming they had quote – “engaged in the unauthorized and unsuitable purchases” of 18 million dollars worth of securities. The judge ruled against Ferrell for not following legal rules during the case.
Artest wants to try out for NFL after basketball career
In sports, LA Lakers star Ron Artest is making some pretty big plans after he ends his NBA career. He says his goal after retirement is to play in the National Football League! The 31-year old Artest says that playing football has always been a fantasy of his. He’s also thinking about a career in boxing, which I think is a more realistic option. We already know he throws one hell of a punch!
